Pageranked - 4

Google decided to be generous enough and upped my pagerank by 1 from its previous 3. For a personal blog, I’m happy.

Kuruvi - Review

Kuruvi is Vijay-Dharani hit combo’s latest “extravaganza” to hit the theatres this May… But I did not have big expectations for it when I sat down to watch it today. And I was proved right.

Before we go any further let me give you a gist of positives and negatives about the movie:

Blackberry… Nope, its actually Crackberry!!

I’ve never held a blackberry device in my hand even though I worked in the the telecom industry for more than 2-3 years. But many of my colleagues have had it and they’ve never been able to put it down. My last phone, a Sony Ericsson K850i was giving me innumerable problems which to my knowledge was not fixable due to the fact that the problems were inherent and not software dependant( in which case, I would have flashed the phone and it should work like new). It came to a point where things became highly annoying and I decided to get a new phone. I sat down a made a list of all the things I needed from my phone. I divided my requirements into two categories namely Definite( The phone must have these features), Maybe( It would be nice if the phone has these, but I can get by without as well).

Reasons why Blackberry must look at India seriously.

Well… I sure hope they sort out their differences. I understand that not being able to intercept messages from Blackberry Devices in India might amount to security concerns but I’m sure a lot of countries come across this problem. So there must be a way out.

Sony Ericsson K850i - The 6 Months Story - The Phone Sucks

The phone sucks worser than a kid sucking on a toffee

I’ve had the Sony Ericsson K850i for the past 6 months now and I’m not a happy customer. I’ve had the Sony K610i, Sony Ericsson K700i, Sony Ericsson D750i, Sony Ericsson P910i and still have the Sony Ericsson P990i as my business phone. So far the worst phone is the K850i.

BEING AN APPLE CUSTOMER IN INDIA IS JUST NOT WORTH IT

OPEN LETTER:
My name is Ashok Govindaraju. I own an Apple Black Macbook. I am currently in India and I have a problem. A serious problem.
A few days back, my Apple Macbook Power Adapter conked out on me and I called Apple Care. They booked a case number and I sent it across to Ample Technologies, one of the two apple service centres in Chennai. They gave me an obnoxious reason for not fixing my power adapter- Liquid Discharge from the adapter, and scratch marks. The Apapter was exactly 8 months old and I do not see any reason for liquid discharge in the adapter.
Now, I would like to purchase a new adapter for Rs. 5100( $ 135) and the person concerned does not even talk to me. Mr. Vijay, who is the service consultant with Ample Technologies told me 2 days back that I would have to wait at least 5-10 days to buy the adapter from them. Today, I am ready to BUY an adapter but the receptionist picks up the call at Ample Technologies and Mr. Vijay refuses to even talk to me. My laptop is really important to me as I use it for business purposes and I have not been able to use it because of non availability of apple power adapters. I have also tried another Dealer in Chennai, namely DATALOGICS INDIA and to NO AVAIL.
Here are some reasons why I think customers must NOT buy an apple product in India.
1) Apple do NOT have a company owned Service Centre in India and so called third party service centres just do NOT want to help customers.
2) Apple do NOT have a store in India and a customer has to WAIT 10 days to buy an accessory. This is also possible ONLY IF THE CUSTOMER GETS ACROSS TO THE SERVICE CENTRE’s LOCATION, FILLS OUT AND SIGNS A PURCHASE ORDER and PAYS UP A 100 PERCENT ADVANCE and wait for 10 days.
3) Due to the involvement of 2-3 dealers the price of an adapter which is $70-100 in the US costs $130 in INDIA. Likewise all accessories cost more.
4) Apple-Care warranty on the product is just pure highway robbery, because even if I did have applecare warranty I do NOT have faster access to stuff I want to BUY.
One thing seems very clear. Something here is really wrong because I am NOT able to use my laptop for my business purpose for the past 10 days. I am sure I would not be able to use it for a considerable amount of time.

Thoondil - Mayajaal

Went to see the movie as we had nothing else to do. Dad wanted a liesurely break, so letting him drive down the almost perfect ECR Roads I thought would bring him that much closer to what he wanted…Break. Did work out well except for the crazy policemen who have been barricading Chennai City with stupid barricades… Seriously, whats with this barricading business guys? Barricades in all shapes and colours.. with sponsors names plastered on them… laid sideways, across and in no particular order. Sponsors - heres some food for thought - We hate anything that comes in our way while driving… we don’t wanna use swear words and suddenly look at your brand logo blaring at us so we get associated with it when we’re pissed off.

The “Sony Ericsson K850i Rocks” would be an understatement. Damn. This phone is the ultimate and photo wizardry. Not counting all the SLR Cameras here of course.

Horrible Traffic In Velachery-Pallikarnai

Chennai’s Suburban Traffic is reaching newer heights each day. I was held up for 45 minutes in this traffic, and in the picture you might be able to spot the irresponsibility of the impatient drivers. The motorists have occupied the whole road allowing no space for the oncoming traffic. Height of Stupidity.
